John Scrivner has over 40 years of fire, accident, and injury investigation experience and has investigated more than 600 fire cases. Additionally, has had 450 hours of Fire Origin and Cause training from IAAI and NAFI.


The largest Eastern Washington wildland fires in that states history (at that time, 2014) produced a number of arson cases that John has investigated, some are still in litigation and one has been dismissed. John was also the lead investigator for the largest property fire and litigation case in Spokane County “Firestorm” inclusive of 30,000 acres, 112 homes lost, 3 fatalities, $80 million in claims. Furthermore, he acted as the lead investigator of an insurance fraud fire case that was reviewed by the Washington Supreme Court (Mutual of Enumclaw vs Cox).

John Scrivner is a BA graduate from Gonzaga University, along with being designated as a CFEI, Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, ARM, Associate of Risk Management, RPA, Registered Professional Adjuster and, PI a Licensed Private Investigator in Washington and Montana.

John has more than 40 years of experience between being a Regional Claims Manager for a large National Insurance Carrier, and a Senior Claims Representative and Investigator for the utility industry customers in a four state area for Avista Utilities. Along with extensive training relative to electric, gas, and incendiary fires, he has performed numerous investigations on fire origin and cause of residential, commercial, vehicle, and wild land fires. John has collected evidence, conducted witness interviews, secured photo documentation, and prepared hundreds of reports and Affidavit write ups for fire litigation cases.

John has clocked over 500 hours of specialized fire origin and cause training, and documented over 670 investigations for fire and origin. Mr. Scrivner has conducted a variety of investigations nationwide in regards to fire and cause, and is a court approved fire expert in over 8 States and in Federal Court.
